Parental Writes #23 – Daddy/Duncan Weekend!

Suzanne had a super busy weekend so it was Duncan and I hanging out for 2 days. Whee! After a lazy start to Saturday, we did a little brush pickup in our yard. We have a giant silver maple in our yard, similar to this:

…only more spread out. Plus our neighbors have one right on the fence line. These things shed branches like a dog sheds fur.

Anyhoo, after that, Duncan decided he wanted a new football so we went in search of one that is a smaller size but an actual football.  (We’ve gone through a number of foam/plastic/rubberones). Along the way, we stopped for an oil change, then lunch at the mall food court – he had Pho

and I found Panda Express. But football at the Mall. We did find one at a Play It Again Sports so he was happy. Then it was off to play Foot Golf! The latest sports fad! It combines golf and soccer, two of Duncan’s fave sports.

You “tee off” from the regular golf tee box – we punted like soccer goalies; that was our “driver”. The holes are on or near the regular fairways.

The usual hazards come into play, of course…

but we breezed through nine holes in under an hour. Duncan ran most of the way, because running. He’s 10, that’s what he does.

After that, it was time for dinner and a movie. “Divergent” was our movie of choice, since we had both read the book. Good fun! And that was just Saturday!

Sunday was pancakes for breakfast, as usual (Hi, Suzanne!!). Then she was off again so D-Man and I settled in to watch some football! We also hit the yard to make sure his new football worked. 🙂

Finally, we went to going away party for my awesome friend Dawn and her fiance. They live on a cool houseboat…

but are heading off to LA. Duncan thought living on a boat would be possibly the coolest thing ever!

And that is how you do a weekend! Next time, though, we want Mom to join us!
