One of the cool jobs I have is evaluating high school musicals from around MN for an organization called The Spotlight Awards.
They are evaluated on numerous criteria – performance, acting, choreography, directing, technical elements, etc…
There is a showcase of the top schools in Minneapolis at the end of the school year. Tons of fun and TONS of talent!!
Well, last week I got to go to Moorhead to see their production of “Chicago”, which is one of my faves. Mainly because I’ve done it twice.

But the best part was that Duncan didn’t have school so he got to come with me! Now, I grew up in Moorhead and returned there for college so I was excited to show him around the town.
The house I grew up in,
Where I lived in college (on campus and off),
And where I spent the majority of college – the Center For the Arts.
We were put up in a swanky hotel in Fargo – The Hotel Donaldson (HoDo for short):
—our actual suite—
We saw a FANTASTIC show and had a great time hanging out in the suite after.
The next morning we had to hit the road early to be home for other events, but we had to make one obligatory stop. In Rothsay, MN to get a picture by the giant Prairie Chicken.
I’m hoping this is the first of many road trips. Because road art.
